Which fan coil types do we install?
Cassette type
Recessed into the suspended ceiling with 4-way air discharge. For offices, shops and meeting rooms.
Concealed ceiling / ducted type
Hidden in the suspended ceiling and distributes air through grilles. An elegant solution for hotels and homes.
Floor-standing (exposed / concealed)
Installed under windows, reducing the cold-wall effect along the façade.
Wall-mounted and ceiling-mounted type
For spaces without a suspended ceiling and where a quick solution is needed.

Our installation steps
| Step | What is done |
|---|---|
| 1. Site survey | The space, heat load, existing pipework and suspended ceiling structure are assessed. |
| 2. Unit and capacity selection | Type and capacity are chosen based on room size, use and water temperatures. |
| 3. Position and hanging | The unit is hung or fixed level, leaving access for maintenance. |
| 4. Water connections | 2-pipe or 4-pipe connection, valve set, strainer and air vent are installed. |
| 5. Drainage | The drain line is laid with sufficient slope; a condensate pump is added if needed. |
| 6. Electrics and controls | Power supply, thermostat and, where required, building automation connections are made. |
| 7. Insulation | Chilled water pipes and valves are insulated against condensation. |
| 8. Commissioning | Pressure test, air venting, fan speed, valve and thermostat tests are carried out. |
2-pipe or 4-pipe?
In a 2-pipe system, the same line carries chilled water in summer and hot water in winter, so the whole building is in either heating or cooling mode at any one time. A 4-pipe system has separate hot and chilled water lines, so each room can heat or cool according to its own needs. In buildings with different façades and uses, such as hotels and hospitals, a 4-pipe system offers a real comfort advantage.
Relocation and unit replacement
- Removing existing fan coils and moving them to a new position during refurbishments and office layout changes
- Replacing units that have reached the end of their life and adapting existing connections
- Upgrading old units with 3-speed motors to energy-efficient EC motor models
- Making suspended ceiling access panels suitable for maintenance access
Valve set, drainage and flexible hose connections
The valve set (valve kit) on a fan coil's water connection ensures that the unit works correctly and can later be serviced without draining the system.
| Component | Function |
|---|---|
| Ball valves (flow and return) | Isolate the unit from the system for maintenance and part replacement. |
| Strainer (Y-type) | Prevents dirt in the system from clogging the coil and the valve. |
| Motorized valve (2-way or 3-way) and actuator | Opens and closes the water flow on the thermostat signal. |
| Balancing valve | Ensures that each unit receives its design water flow rate. |
| Flexible hose | Provides a flexible connection between the unit and the fixed pipework, absorbing vibration and installation tolerances. |
| Automatic air vent | Releases air that collects in the coil. |
On 4-pipe systems this set is installed separately for the hot and chilled water circuits. The unit-specific connection diagram is given in the manufacturer's installation manual.
Drain connection
- The drain pipe is run with a continuous fall from the drain pan outlet; reverse slope and sagging cause water to collect.
- A trap is fitted where needed to prevent odours and air being drawn in.
- The drain hose is kept short and protected against kinking and crushing.
- Cassette and some concealed ceiling units use a condensate pump; the pump's lift height and float alarm are checked.
- Chilled water pipes, the valve set and the drain line are insulated against condensation.
Points to watch when installing cassette fan coils
- The suspended ceiling grid does not carry the unit's weight; the unit is hung from the slab on its own threaded rods.
- The unit is hung level and at the correct height so that no gap is left between the panel and the ceiling.
- Maintenance access is left to the condensate pump and the electrical box.
- Any fresh air or branch duct connection is planned before installation.

Replace the unit or repair it?
| Criterion | Repair makes sense | Consider replacement |
|---|---|---|
| Parts availability | Original or equivalent parts are available | Critical parts such as the board or coil are no longer available |
| Coil condition | Sound, or a leak that can be repaired on site | Frost cracking, widespread corrosion, recurring leaks |
| Fault frequency | A one-off fault with a known cause | Faults that recur every season and spread to several parts |
| Casing and drain pan | Sound | Rusted casing, perforated drain pan |
| Noise and comfort | Meets expectations | High noise, insufficient capacity; a new unit with an EC motor may be an advantage |
When a unit is replaced, the survey checks that the new unit suits the existing water connections, drain level, ceiling opening and thermostat/automation infrastructure. Detailed guides (in Turkish): renewing old fan coils, fan coil service life.

Frequently asked questions
How long does fan coil installation take?
Where the pipework is already in place, installing a single unit usually takes a few hours. For projects that need new pipework, the duration is determined during the site survey.
Do you supply the fan coil units?
If you wish, we can supply units from a make and model suited to your needs; we also install units you have purchased yourself.
Do you give a warranty after installation?
We provide a warranty on our workmanship; the equipment warranty is subject to the manufacturer's terms. The scope is stated in writing in the quotation.
Do you install outside Ankara?
Yes, we carry out project-based installation and commissioning work across Turkey.
